I would have rated with ZERO had that been a choice and here are my reasons why:

I was matched with almost 100 women over a period of 3 months and I eventually ended up closing all but 2 of those "matches" for various reasons that I won't go into here. I not only have complaints about the way I was "matched" but also the wording of some of their definitions. Shortly after you sign up, you're supposed to pick and choose a certain number of items from one list of "must haves" and another list of "can't stands". Those lists contain a lot of loaded words, such as "infidelity" and "cheating" with eHarmony's own definitions of those words. The definitions eHarmony uses tend fit very narrow, right-wing christian definitions and not those of most people in our society. You eventually wind up sharing your personal lists of "must haves" and "can't stands" with the person(s) you're matched with in hopes that they, too have the same definition of the term that you do.

Another problem I have with their system is that you spend lots of time sending emails back and forth with the match(s) that you're interested in and, in my apparently not-so-unique experience, when you finally get to meet that person, they turn out to be wako or they have BIG problems communicating! I had one woman tell me I had to put my eHarmony account on hold if I wanted to date her! I had another woman tell me that she bicycled regularly, jogged, rock climbed and frequently went kayaking. When I finally got to meet her, she looked like a 5'1" 220 pound wooly mammoth! Just how DO you get someone like that into a kayak?? Geesh.

The biggest problem I had with is that after 3+ months of being a paid member, they decided to terminate my account without notice and then flatly refused to give a reason even after contacting them several times to try and find out why. Here's where you have to be careful - according to their user agreement, they CAN do that and they don't have to tell you why...and they don't have to give you a refund either!

This is a pathetic excuse for a dating site.
