In my opinion, eHarmony.com does
not deserve even 1 star. I've used it for 7 days, and
I'm asking for a refund. It's not the matching process
that I have a big problem
with, but the refund process.
I've followed the procedures
to close my account. Everything went smoothly until
I had to communicate with an online
rep, to get my refund number. The online rep kept saying
she did not get a response from me, even though I've
posted the answers for her questions. She closed down
the conversation before I could do a thing. The communication
lasted less than 2 minutes. I was sent by email, the
online conversation. The interesting part is, all that
I've typed, was not in this transcription; only the
online rep's was. It makes me think if I have to use
it as evidence to sue them, I would have none.
So I've
tried again, to request communication with an online
rep. This time, rather than having the minutes
counting down the waiting time, until a rep is online,
the minutes counted up! This means, in the beginning
of my waiting it was a 5 minute wait; than 2 minutes
later it was 8 minutes. And then, a message came
up saying that a rep is not available, since it's Easter
holiday, and that I will have to contact them the
next
day! Keep in mind - this IS my 7th day, and I NEED
to have my refund today.
Rather than quitting, I tried
going through the closing account process again. This
time, I was not prompted
to communicate with a rep. I was going through the
refund process, in which, supposedly, the refund was
being processed real-time. It went for a long time...so
I quit the application. I logged into my account again,
attempting to do this once more. This time, the message
was I was ineligible for a refund (NO reason was mentioned),
and that if I had a reason for refund, I had to send
an email message to a rep. I sent my messages, and
had nothing other than automated replies. So I thought
I'd call them, yet there is no phone number listed.
I called my credit card company, in attempt to dispute
the transaction. The credit card company basically
asked me to contact them by phone first, before helping
me out. Since eHarmony put my transaction through,
their phone number showed up in the credit card center.
I called eHarmony.com -
the receptionist answered. I demanded a refund done
over the phone.
She said it was impossible
for her to do this. I said the system is giving me
a lot of headache, and I want this to be over with.
I wanted to speak to someone who deals with refund.
She recommended me to send an email to a "manager",
rather than putting me through to the person who is
responsible for refunds. I did as I was told - no reply,
again.
I called the credit card company to request
a dispute on my behalf.
All this happened within
one day. I needed the refund, so I felt it was necessary
for me to get this - since
after today, the 7 day risk free trial period is
no longer available. I want no more hassle. Yet
their response was nothing, which is unacceptable to
me.
This left a bad taste in my mouth. I
would never recommend eHarmony.com to
anyone. I am also leery of
other online
dating companies because of this bad experience.
I should have checked out this website before
signing on 7 days ago.
