Woman Loses $400,000 to Online Dating Scam
A lot of people don’t think they can be taken in by an online dating scam, but as this video points out, scammers are becoming more sophisticated – especially at getting you to fall in love with them before executing the scam, thus catching you with your guard lowered. As this news video story points out:
“Fraud officers say the women aren’t stupid. The scammers have years of experience concocting tales of hardship that can be fixed by a wire transfer.”
Many scammers now pose as soldiers serving in the U.S. army, thus having a good excuse for not being able to meet you in person during the duration of the scam. What’s important to draw from this is that it’s better to date local people you can meet in person.
Below is a news report about a woman who lost $400,000 to a scammer who was posing as a United States citizen serving in the Army overseas.

What a pity the video does not provide automatic subtitles. This would be a great video to share with French speaking (or anything else) audiences.
