From the Editor
The Online Dating Newsletter is back from hiatus and
we look forward to consistently delivering to you
weekly tips and inspirations as they relate to dating
and relationships. Over the past several weeks we've
been doing several in-depth updates to the Online
Dating Newsletter Website.
Here are a few of the new things:
- The look of the site has been upgraded, including
a new logo and better navigation.
- We've added a "Relationship Quote of the Day" to
the front page, which changes daily.
- We've added the ability for you to submit your own
ideas - like a creative date idea or online dating
tip.
- We've added three new sections (Webmaster Resources,
Mission Statement, and Dating Fun Zone).
The Dating
Fun Zone is the biggest
addition to the Online Dating Newsletter. We are working
on building a fun, humorous, and sometimes interactive
area to explore the fun side of dating. Inside the
Dating Fun Zone, you'll find the following:
- "Clicking Together" cartoon series that
explores online dating.
- Four dating Word Search puzzles
- Two Flash shorts "exploring" the "trials
and tribulations" of relationships.
- Dating jokes
We also plan on opening a "Funny Dating Experience" section,
but need your help for this one. If you have a funny
dating experience, please email it to me via jtracy@onlinedatingmagazine.com
or fill out the form at http://www.onlinedatingnewsletter.com/dating-fun-zone.html
The Online Dating Newsletter is about more than online
dating. It is also about relationships, creative date
concepts, and inspiration to help create balance in
our lives. I want to thank you for being a part of
this adventure and look forward to our future communications.
Best wishes for dating and relationship success,
Joe Tracy, editor

Creative Date Ideas:
Home Movie Theater
Going to the movie theater to watch a film is a common
enjoyable date activity, but why not add some creativity
to the common idea of a movie date? Create a movie theater
right in your own living room as a fun and pleasant surprise
for your partner! Here's how:
Prepare your partner for the date by sending them
a ticket stub that you have created, either by mail
or by dropping it off at their home or work. Make sure
you let them know the ticket is redeemable at your
house on the day and hour of your planned date. When
your date arrives, answer the door in a suit or red
vest (similar to those taking tickets at a real movie
theater). Take your date's ticket stub and proceed
with them to the "concession stand" where
you will have popcorn, soda (in the plastic cups),
and candy available to them "free of charge".
Make sure the area where you are going to watch the
DVD is set up for optimum viewing, perhaps with extra
pillows on the couch or dimmed lights to give that
movie theater feel. Choose a movie that you think your
date would enjoy versus one you would prefer and give
your date a "refill" of popcorn or soda,
as they need it, throughout the evening.
This date idea is not only fun and creative, it will
also make your date feel extra special because it requires
extra effort, lots of attention toward your partner,
and additional thought on your part. (SOURCE: Online

Online Dating Tips:
Personalize Your First Email
You never get a second chance to make a good first impression. This is also
true with online dating. Make sure that the first email you send to a potential
match is personalized to the person you are trying to meet. Carefully read
and study the profile of the person you are contacting. When writing your email,
ask questions specific to that person's profile and discuss topics that you
think they would enjoy discussing, based on their profile. Don't just send
out a generic email introducing yourself without any sort of specifics as to
why you want to meet this particular person. Quote specific parts of the profile
when asking a question, for example:
"You mentioned in your profile that you love
the outdoors. Do you get the chance to go camping often?"
Spend only a small amount of the introductory email
talking about yourself. By focusing your email on questions
about your potential match you give the impression
that you are truly interested in learning more about
them rather than selling yourself. Of course it is
important to reveal a little bit about yourself, but
talking only about yourself may make you seem arrogant
or egotistical. And besides, by focusing on the other
person, hopefully they will write back with questions
they want to know about you! (SOURCE: Online Dating

Relationship Tips:
Commitment Means Compromise
A healthy relationship is one in which one partner makes equal decisions with
the other partner. In the book "He's Scared, She's Scared: Understanding
the Hidden Fears Sabotaging Your Relationships" authors Steven Carter
and Julia Sokol offer advice on how to recognize the control issues in a relationship:
"Commitment means compromise. That means learning
how to live with and make equal decisions with another
person. If one partner controls a relationship, financially,
emotionally, or otherwise, the partnership is unequal.
So try to understand the obvious and hidden ways in
which you attempt to control your relationships and
the ways in which you allow yourself to be controlled.
If control plays a large part in your life, you might
want to consider exploring its possible psychological
origins. You may need professional help in protecting
yourself from controlling partners, or you may need
guidance in learning how to manage your own impulses
to control." (SOURCE: He's

Relationship Quote
of the Week
"While our differences are definitely inconvenient, they stretch us to
be more whole, loving, and considerate. We are attracted to someone who is
different in order to satisfy the deep yearning of our soul to expand and embrace
that which is beyond ourselves. In this way, we expand to more of what we can
be. In this sense, a relationship assists and supports us in being all that
we can be." (SOURCE: Mars
and Venus on a Date, by John Gray, Ph.D - in

Romantic Ideas:
Top 10 Love List
Everyone likes to hear the words "I love you" come from their partner
unsolicited, so here is just another way to express those words to the one
you love. Create a top ten list for your partner, listing the top ten reasons
that you love them. You can read the list to them in person, mail it in a card
or letter, or send it instantly in an email. Everyone loves getting something
in the mail other than bills and something in their email box besides ads and
SPAM, and the fact that it is such a heartfelt gesture will make it all that
much more appreciated.
In your list, make sure to use specific examples to
support your reasons for loving your partner; this
will bring happy memories back to his or her mind of
past experiences that the two of you have shared. Also,
always list more than ten reasons, even though your
partner will only be expecting ten from your "Top
Ten" love list. Explain the extended list by saying
something like "I know there are more than ten
reasons listed here, but there are so many top reasons
why I love you it was impossible for me to stop at
just ten."
This list is bound to melt the heart of your loved
one and make them feel appreciated and loved. A little
extra unexpected effort shown by you will ensure that
your partner feels more secure in your relationship,
greatly appreciated, and loved. (SOURCE: Online Dating
