True.com Recognized for Customer
Satisfaction(onlinedatingmagazine.com -
February 23, 2005) In just over a year after opening
its doors to singles nationwide, True.com was
named one of the top three dating sites in terms of
customer experience and satisfaction in
an in-depth study conducted by Keynote Systems. The
popular online relationship service, which may be best
known for its compatibility testing, marital screening
and criminal background checks, was also chosen by
69 percent of study participants as the "safe" site.
Keynote Systems' study is based on behavioral data
on popular online dating Web sites. The resulting rankings
are based on research with 2,000 customers and 2,000
prospective customers as they interacted with 10 leading
online dating Web sites, including True.com, American Singles,
Black Planet, eHarmony, Friend Finder, Friendster,
Lavalife, Match.com, PerfectMatch, Tickle and Yahoo!
Personals.
Background Checks are Desired By Many Online Dating
Participants
According to the study findings, 61 percent of study
participants are concerned that other members are misrepresenting
themselves on online dating sites and 45 percent expressed
a desire to have access to background checks on other
members. Moreover, a shocking 30 percent of those who
participated in the study were actually married or
living with a significant other.
True.com claims they are the only online relationship
service that performs extensive criminal screening
on its communicating members. Through its relationship
with Rapsheets, America's largest source of criminal
records on the Internet, True.com has turned away more
than 5% percent of applicants due to criminal histories.
Additionally, True.com also claims to be the only online
relationship service to conduct single verification
screening, which can reduce the likelihood of married
individuals misrepresenting themselves as single.
"It's
not surprising that True.com was
chosen as the safest site among study participants
as the company
is clearly setting the standard for the online dating
industry by taking significant and costly measures
to ensure that its members feel safe and secure using
the site," said Bill Rathburn, former Chief of
Police of Dallas, Texas, president of Rathburn & Associates,
a comprehensive security planning and operations firm,
and True.com's expert
security advisor. "From criminal
background screenings to single verification, TRUE
is leading by example and showing the rest of the industry
how online relationship services should conduct their
businesses and improve the security of their members."
Half of Online Daters Interested in Personality Tests
In addition to expressing the need for security, 50
percent of study participants also expressed an interest
in personality tests. While many online dating sites
have compatibility testing, True.com claims
to be the only online relationship service that has
a compatibility
test based on science, endorsed by Psychology Today
and independently certified by Integrated Knowledge
Systems, Inc. to meet the Standards for Educational
and Psychological Testing.
"If done correctly, compatibility testing is
the key to finding long-lasting relationships as it
helps significantly narrow down the playing field to
only well-suited individuals," said Dr. Jim Houran,
chief psychologist at True.com. "What's
frightening is that millions of online daters could
be using compatibility
tests that are seriously flawed or without scientific
merit. With the sole exception of True.com,
no online dating service makes available any independent
verification
for the scientific basis of its testing methodology,
evidence of the success of its tests, or any other
information which may be used to measure or evaluate
the validity of the methods employed to determine compatibility
among singles. True.com's Compatibility
Test is the only one in the industry that's truly based
on science."
