I wanted to tell you about another scam that is taking place on Match.com. A woman, claiming to be from Nebraska, contacted me through Match.com. We were not a match for several reasons, so I wrote her back, saying "thanks, but no thanks". She then revealed she was from Russia and was looking to find an American because she hated the cold. I wrote back, saying she should be looking for a man in someplace other than Nebraska. She responded with a message that was obviously a form letter. I replied with her letter, pasted onto my e-mail format. After several exchanges of form letter e-mails, I received an invoice from a "travel agency" for $987 so she could come visit me. I do not know how wide spread this is, but I think Match.com should be doing more to protect gullible people from scam artists. ~Tom Banks < Previous Letter | Next Letter> Write a Letter to the Editor
