Connect Through Sharing

The idea of sharing has been put into our heads since we were children. You were taught from the early stages of life to share with those you care about. That value still holds true into adulthood and one of the most important person to share with is your romantic partner. Sharing is an essential part of connecting for couples, and, luckily there are hundreds of things you and your partner can share with each other. From special mementoes to certain ideas, there are endless ways to further connect with your partner through sharing. Here are five very different ways you can share something special with your partner and help bring both of you closer together as a couple.

Idea 1: Share a Musical Walk
Whether you are taking a walk together on the beach, through a park trail, or through your own neighborhood, walking together hand-in-hand can be a very romantic experience. When you plan to go on a walk, you and your partner are making time to share the outdoors and fresh air together, doing good for your mind as well as your body. You can make a walk an even more romantic experience by bringing along your CD or MP3 player with a dual headphone jack so that both of you can listen to the same music as you walk. Fill your iPod with your favorite love songs or make a CD of songs that have special meaning for the both of you, put on your two pairs of headphones, join hands, and stroll together sharing an intimate moment full of romance.

Idea 2: Share a Meal
One of the top things that many couples enjoy doing together is going out to a nice restaurant and having a delicious meal. Use a dinner out as a way to further connect with your partner by not only going out to a romantic restaurant, but, using mealtime as a time to share. Instead of just getting two separate entrees, share an appetizer, one entrée, and a sweet dessert. Sharing food is one subtle way to connect with your partner through the same experience, and feeding each other chocolate cheesecake at the end of the meal will definitely boost the romance factor.

Idea 3: Share Something Special
This idea works well for couples that have to be apart from each other for an extended amount of time. When you have to be away from the person that you love, sometimes it is helpful to have something that belongs to your partner with you to help you feel closer and more connected to that person while you are apart. As a loving gesture between partners, exchanging items that are special to you both when preparing for time apart is a romantic way to stay connected. Share your favorite stuffed animal for your boyfriend to sleep with or lend your girlfriend your favorite sweatshirt so that she can wear it to keep her warm on those cold days away from you.

Idea 4: Share a Secret
One of the exciting things about being a couple is the ability to share information with your partner that you would never share with anyone else. A great way to get further connected through sharing is to reveal a secret to your partner or share a secret between the two of you that no one else knows. By knowing you and your partner share knowledge together that nobody else has, you can’t help but feel more connected to one another.

Idea 5: Share Your Hopes and Dreams
A supportive and caring partner will always be interested in knowing the hopes and dreams of their loved one. Part of the beauty of being in a relationship is that you now have someone you can tell anything to. You have someone who loves you for who you are and is as interested in your aspirations as you are. One of the best things that couples can share with each other is their hopes and dreams about the future. Knowing your partners thoughts and potential direction in life helps you learn more about your partner, anticipate his or her needs, and grow together as time progresses.

Whether it is a keepsake you purchased at a gift shop or a memory from your first date, sharing between partners is not only a good way to build romance, but also a good way to strengthen the union between the two of you. The more you share, the deeper the connection will be within your relationship and the more memories you will create together.
