Review
I just completed a four-month membership with PerfectMatch.
While it appears to approach online dating with some
seriousness, their "duet" compatibility
test is at best a very unsophisticated Myers Briggs,
and about as applicable as a horoscope from "The
Onion."
The PerfectMatch website is poorly organized, offering
no tools to keep correspondence with specific members
organized. A member may send an Icebreaker (a series
of multiple choice questions) to which you reply, but
then you need to navigate back through a sent folder
to locate the member again in order to send them an
Icebreaker. There is no easy way to view all on-going
correspondence at-a-glance.
Also, if dating is to some degree a numbers game,
approach this site with caution. I live in a medium-sized
city, and the number of people on this site in my area
was very limited (particularly compared to other dating
sites). I most often received communication from men
living in other states, or from cities several hundred
miles away. Doing several fairly broad searches in
my city yielded only a handful of results (perhaps
a dozen).
I joined PerfectMatch through a "4 Month Premium
Membership" which included a copy of Dr. Schwartz's
book on dating. At the time my four-month membership
expired, I still had not received the book, even after
a series of emails to customer service over the duration
of my membership, asking why I had not received the
book. I received replies days later stating that my
book was "on the way shortly." I never received
it.
Finally, even though I did not authorize an auto-renew
option, the website renewed my membership before my
original four-month membership had expired. The contract/membership
agreement is unavailable for viewing through their
website after you join.
I offer a strong word of caution to others wanting
to use this website. They did not fulfill the membership
agreement, their customer service was completely unacceptable,
their website difficult to navigate, and the numbers
on their website small. I have previously used Match.com and eHarmony, both of which far exceed PerfectMatch in every category.
