Review
LavaLife is an okay site -- if you are in your
20s or early 30s. You won't find a very dense field
of 40-somethings to choose from.
Pros
It can be very inexpensive to date on this site. You
get to keep your profile live and pay as you go per
email you wish to send out. Or you can purchase one
of the premium packages with unlimited emails.
Cons
There are some deceitful practices, especially in the
early days when they are trying to lure you to pay
for a member package. For example, this is pretty
weird:
I checked my email one day and saw that I had four "smiles" (some
sites call them "winks"). I clicked and was
amazed to see my friend John was one of them. So, I
smiled back (smiles are free). Later that week when
I ran into John he commented on my smiling at him.
I said, well, you smiled first. But, you see, he didn't!
LavaLife must send out random "smiles".
John and I were both pretty freaked out about that.
Other cons include a fairly clunky Instant Messenger
and irregular email notices when you have messages.
