I actually tried a few online dating sites including
match.com, lavalife, yahoo! personals, American Singles,
and eHarmony.com . Although the price is quite high, I
found eHarmony.com to be the best that I used. I found
the guy for me and we plan on getting married within
the next two years. I'm not the only who has had
success with the site that I know.
I have read some of the reviews that didn't like eHarmony.com and
here is my response. First as to the long communication
process, I feel that it is supposed to help you weed
out the so-called wackos and those you may not be so
sure about meeting. On other sites, guys would email
me once and then want to meet for a date. To me that
is not a safe approach to meeting someone you've never
met before. I spent more than three months emailing
through eHarmony.com and then my own email and eventually
talking on the phone before meeting the
man I'm with now.
Second, the matching process at times did make me
question their system. However, in each person I got
matched with, I felt like we could have something in
common and saw why we were matched. Also, if you look
past some of the more superficial things such as hobbies
and physical looks, you may find that right person.
I know the man I'm with didn't at first seem to be
a match and even when we first began dating I was a
bit unsure, but I did realize that he was the one for
me. It does seem at times that you get matched with
almost anyone, but I got more matches from other sites
that seemed to be completely opposite of what I was
looking for. I got many more match returns and emails,
but I didn't have the connection with anyone else that
I emailed or met.
As for the price, it does seem quite high. However,
think about the price of other sites. Most of them
have gone up to $25/$30 per month which is comparable
to eHarmony.com . And if you wait about a month after filling
out the profile, you can a reduced membership coupon
emailed to you, which makes the price quite affordable.
I waited until then to actually become a paying member.
Plus if you look at what you might get in return, then
the price is insignificant. I can't comment on the
refund policy of eHarmony.com since I never asked for one,
but it sounds like it's been a headache for some people.
Someone commented that there were people who had profiles
but weren't paying members, so you couldn't communicate.
That happens with all sites. I was a paying member
for a couple, but couldn't get a response from those
who didn't pay.
All-in-all, eHarmony.com has had the best success for
me and I'm the happiest I've ever been. <See
