Webdate Releases Humorous Online Dating Videos
to Promote Service (onlinedatingmagazine.com -
April 6, 2006) Online Dating Service Webdate has
found a new way to attract interest from online daters
-
funny promotional
videos. The fake "promotional
videos" are gaining popularity. Like the promo, "Little
Big
Love"
where the world's strongest man falls in love with
the world's cutest dwarf. There are 10
video segments in all,
each with a different humorous slant.
Since the release of the videos last
month, Webdate's traffic
has increased 20-fold.
"It's pure genius," says Joe Tracy, publisher
of Online Dating Magazine. "Instead of doing the generic
banner ads or commercials, Webdate has found a way
to play upon people's funny bone and it's working.
The service's traffic count and signups are skyrocketing."
In one video, a nice looking man is talking
to his friend on the cell phone saying how excited
he is to meet his "hot" date. He's walking along the
beach looking for her, having only seen her model-like
body, but not face. When he finally finds her, it turns
out to be his mom.
Some of the videos are getting up to
100,000 unique downloads an hour.
"The marketing person that came up with
this concept should be given a huge raise," says Tracy.
"In order to attract users, you have to develop unique
concepts that will draw attention. Webdate has done
this and it's working beyond their wildest imagination."
Webdate is
using the video clips to promote the live video chat
portion of its service. Using the
videos to relay "horror stories" they then emphasize
that by using Webdate's online date feature, you get
to clearly see the real person before you meet them.
