Letter to the Editor:
Google Romance Joke
As an unpartnered woman looking for her Heart's True
Hero, when I saw the link for Google Romance [see
story here], I was so excited my heart was beating
faster than a
speeding
bullet. My blood having turned to sparks, I clicked
the button to post my profile.
When I saw that it was
a prank, I was disappointed and rather miffed. (maybe
it would have been funny had I been partnered).
Am
I in the minority as far as being miffed that it
was a prank? I agree with those people who say
Google should have a service like that for real.
They would
make mucho dinero, and many people would find their desired partners.
~ Rayna G.
Editor's Note: Every
year Google does an April Fool's joke and this year
they hit upon the online dating industry.
I'm sure you weren't the only one wishing it was real
(well, except for the "contextual dating" part).
Many people are fed up with paying high prices on online
dating services and being
inundated
with
annoying
banner or pop-up
ads. Therefore some, like yourself, may
have welcomed the thought of Google (which
has never put a banner or pop-up ad on its search engine)
entering into the arena. Some people believe that there
is truth
in humor. After all, Google already
owns a social networking service, so why not an online
dating service? You may
see one from them yet...
