Letter to the Editor:
Disagree With Your Assessment of IMBRA
It seems a federal
judge didn't agree with you on there
being a "need" for
the mail order bride law (see www.imbra.org). The law
has been overthrown and President Bush lost my respect
for having signed it (and I am sure he gained no respect
from the liberals for signing it).
Next time... please try to be an American, not a Cuban
or Soviet on such issues. ;-)
The law would have forced all agencies out of business
who only had telephone and postal address information
for women. That wouldn't have been fair at all. The
judge actually stated that the real reason for the
law must have been something other than protecting
women.
This means our courts are on to the real reason: feminists
want to force American men to deal with them and have
no alternative.
At the bottom of your site you show a collage of women's
profiles that one can only see on so-called mail order
bride sites. American dating sites never show decent
photographs. That is one reason why American men use
the international dating sites and fly to Europe for
the weekend to meet great women.
You got your concept of "control" from some
Woman's Studies course you must have just taken at
college. There is no control issue. Men just don't
necessarily want to date and marry leftist women (Democrats)
or frigid women (Evangelical "Christian" Republicans)...
so they date Europeans or Asians who aren't politically
polarized.
And seriously... how many dating sites are profitable?
I use a free dating site here in Germany. That is correct.
It costs $0 to use and has the best women.
I predict that free online dating will be an extra
feature of portals in the future.

Editor's
Note - The issue of control
and abuse is not something we pulled out of thin air.
It was based on researched numbers that the
government presented in its report and appears to be
the underlying reason for the International
Marriage Broker
Act being crafted in the first place. If
those numbers (or the problem) didn't exist, then we
likely would have taken a different stance. We also
noted that one thing we did not like about
the law is the number of businesses that would have
to close
and the monopoly effect it could create. And yes,
an appeal filed by attorney Ralph Goldberg, in Georgia,
for the service European Connections, has resulted
in a temporary injunction against enforcing
the law for the
plaintiff while the issue is explored further. How
this ends up and affects the entire industry remains
to
be seen.
For the record, we know people who have had wonderful
relationships/marriages as a result of meeting someone
overseas.
