Letter to the Editor:
No Matches on eHarmony
Has anyone else been simply rejected
as a candidate from the very beginning? Anyone else got
this message after submitting the initial questionaire?
"Unfortunately,
we are not able to make our profiles work for you.
Our matching model could not accurately predict with
whom you would be best matched. This occurs for about
20% of potential users, so 1 in 5 people simply will
not benefit from our service. We hope that you understand,
and we regret our inability to provide service for
you at this time."
What the Geehoosis does this mean?
I've
heard of rejection, but from a machine? They immediately
decided to simply not try? I mean, I'm not at all
that far from the simple average american male, and
my answers truthfully reflected that. I am extremely
curious at this point about the details of their "model",
and what about me didn't fit. Does anyone know more
about this?
Here
is the "kicker": A married couple I
know in the eastern part of the U.S. experimentally
filled out the survey as individuals, claiming to be
single. One of them got the same result as I did, a "no-go".
The other got 2 matches in the first week, one from
California, and none from their spouse. These are two
very happily married people, who just celebrated their
8th wedding anniversary.
I
guess that's what you get when you trust someones
(or somethings) judgement before your own. Oh well,
to paraphrase Groucho Marx, "Any club that won't
accept me, I wouldn't want to be a mamber!"
(Shuffling
back on over to the "wrong side of
the Net"...)
