Online Dating Industry News:
Date.com Acquires MatchMaker.com
(Online
Dating Magazine - February 23, 2006) Online dating
service Matchmaker was
recently acquired by Date.com under terms that haven't
been disclosed to the public.
Date.com has been working on its business
infrastructure, also creating a parent company, Avalanche,
LLC that now becomes the official "owner" of both Date.com and Matchmaker.
"We are looking forward to breathing
new life into Matchmaker and reinvigorating the brand,"
said Meir Strahlberg, President of Avalanche, LLC and
CEO of Date.com. "We are excited about ushering Matchmaker back to the pinnacle of the online dating industry."
According to Strahlberg, Matchmaker will
continue to operate as an online personal website and,
through a licensing arrangement, will share a technical
platform with Date.com.
