Dating Industry Quotes from Borenstein
About the Launch of Yahoo!
Personals Premier
"Although the online dating industry is still in its
infancy, singles' needs and expectations are evolving
as they become more sophisticated online daters. We
recognized a clear opportunity to demonstrate our leadership
and expertise by enhancing our existing offerings and
creating a service that offers singles what they want
- choice, flexibility and the best tools available
so they can say goodbye to an aspect of the dating
life that some singles say feels like an endless string
of coffee dates and embrace the next level of compatibility."
"It's like free therapy. It tells you who's more
likely to be right for you, as opposed to your perception
of who's right for you…How do you find your needle
in the haystack? Technology can make it easier." (SmartMoney.com
November 17, 2004 article “Yahoo Upgrades Online
Dating Service”)
About

Personals' ‘National

"Singles are optimistic that they will find love
and they want to make the time to find the right connection.
By declaring this Valentine's Day 'National Call in
Single Day,' we're encouraging singles to spend more
time focusing on themselves and bettering their love
lives -- and it doesn't have to be hard, Yahoo! Personals
has the free searching, matching and self-insight tools
singles need to easily find their 'needle in a haystack.'"
About New Industry Approaches Because of Slowed Growth
in the Online Dating Industry:
“Today's online daters are increasingly sophisticated.
You can't just increase offerings; you have to help
singles figure out their relationship goals and offer
tools to help them find their version of success, whatever
that might be." (CNN Money August 18, 2005 article “Online
Dating Feeling Less Attractive”)
About eHarmony's Approach
to Compatibility Matching:
"People want to be empowered, not to be just a
