Gregory Waldorf, CEO
of eHarmony
Gregory Waldorf (he also goes by Greg Waldorf) was the founding investor
for relationship service eHarmony.
He is a key player for eHarmony and
was responsible for assembling most of eHarmony's executive
management team.
On March 31, 2006, Waldorf was named
Interim CEO of eHarmony.
He replaced Jaynie
Studenmund, who
lasted
only two months. The position is temporary, however,
as Waldorf is leading a team to find a new CEO. On November 8, 2006, Waldorf was promoted from Interim CEO to CEO.
Waldorf has been with eHarmony since
its inception in the late 1990's and launch in August,
2000.
Waldorf has a successful history of working
with high-growth companies. In 1994, Waldorf and several
students from Stanford University’s Graduate
School of Business created Start
Up, a non-profit company
that "trains and supports entrepreneurs who have limited
access to resources to help them create prosperity
for themselves and their communities."
Waldorf quickly became a successful venture
capitalist and entrepreneur. Two years ago he launched,
along with his mother, Destination-U.com,
which has students fill out a questionnaire that is
used to help
pair them up with colleges that best fit their needs.
He was also a former general partner of Charles
River Ventures and an institutional manager for Pacific Edge Investment Management. Waldorf holds a BA from the University
of California and an MBA from the Stanford
Graduate School of Business.
Quotes from Waldorf:
Abpuit the eHarmony Cam at Tampa Bay Devil Ray Games
"The greater Tampa Bay area is an important market for eHarmony, and the fact that we have more than 80 eHarmony couples living in this area who are Rays fans makes this a win-win partnership, This partnership allows us to say thank you to our satisfied members who found love and happiness on eHarmony while also promoting eHarmony to prospective new members. The Rays have always been a very lovable organization when it comes to putting their fans first, and we believe that our strong relationship with our success couples 'marries' nicely with the Rays' approach to engaging and spotlighting their fan base."
About eHarmony's 2007 Success Stories Contest
"One of our greatest joys at eHarmony is reading the dozens of daily success stories we receive from our members all across the country. We're happy to name John and Mindy our Success Story of the Year and want to thank the tens of thousands of couples that submitted their stories. Each and every story we receive is unique and amazing in its own way and is a daily reminder of why we founded this company."
About the Departure of Jaynie Studenmund as CEO
of eHarmony
"While we are all disappointed that Jaynie's
CEO role was not long-term, we are very pleased that
such a talented executive will continue to make significant
contributions to the company by continuing to serve
as a director. Having
just completed a record quarter for our singles service
combined with the successful launch of our new marriage
wellness program, I am confident that we will find
an accomplished executive to lead eHarmony into the
future."
About Being Named CEO of eHarmony
"Serving as CEO has been a great honor and one of the most meaningful experiences of my career. The opportunity to continue to lead this special company that touches so many lives is an incredible opportunity. I look forward to continuing my work with the talented team at eHarmony as we extend our many accomplishments into the future."
