Cosmopolitan's Hottest Bachelor Season is Here
Ahh. The season is changing. The trees are becoming bare, shedding their red and orange and yellow splendiferous leaves. The chill in the air is getting noticeably crisper. And yet, my heart is pumping faster and beating with the warmth of a blazing fireplace in the depths of winter.
Why?
It’s almost time for Cosmopolitan magazine’s Bachelor season. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, actually.
For those unaware of this goodness, 50 eligible (and gorgeous) bachelors are chosen each year. One from each state. They come from all walks of life, but have one thing in common: They're hot, VERY photogenic and, obviously, looking for love. So just who are some of these eligible men? Take last year’s crop of cuteness, for example. Well, there's Alabama Lamar who loves to travel. There's Colorado Brad (Ideal date: “I'll take her flying in my plane. I'll see how well she does outside her comfort zone." And of course there's my personal favorite, Louisiana Jason (see photo above), who loves it when women are forward and introduce themselves
(*takes notes*)
Oh, and the greatest part? You can email them! It's time to perfect those e-pickup lines, ladies! Here’s how things went down for me last year….
I had a few very busy nights. I'm talking really, really busy, hard, strenuous work that only the strongest of the strong are capable of pulling off.
I had the hard task of going through the crop of hunky bachelors and deciding who among them is the fairest one if all and deserved a note from Yours Truly. Well, I couldn't quite narrow it down, so I'm emailing a couple of them (Shhhh, don't tell them that).
And because I'm so selfless with this blog, I pasted the letter below in case some of you need a laugh....
Dear (will fill in hot bachelor's name later):
First, congratulations for being featured as one of Cosmo’s bachelors – that must be so exciting!
I don’t usually do this (how many times have you heard that since the issue came out? HA! I know everyone says it, but I actually mean it. I’m pretty shy and reserved in person), but your profile intrigued me and I wanted to introduce myself.
A little about me: I’m a freelance writer and newspaper columnist. I’ve recently joined the blog bandwagon (http://melissabxoxo.blogspot.com), which I’m enjoying more than I thought I would. I love to laugh, watch movies, spend time with family and friends, meet new people, burst into song out of the blue, walk in the rain without an umbrella, sit down with a good magazine, and mingle and break loose on the dance floor to sappy 80s power ballads (you probably didn't really care about that last one, did you?)
Well, that’s probably more than you needed to know about me. I’d love to hear from you and a bit about yourself.
Best wishes and take care!
Melissa Blake
P.S. I realize this all sounds like one big profile on Match.com. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I'll let you be the judge
Sure enough, I got a reply! From a nice-looking Mr. Arkansas. Here's what he had to say:
Hey, sorry it took so long to respond. I was in Colorado. I think it's a little unfair that you have a photo of me and I don't have one of you... haha.
I'm with friends and about to head out for the night, but I just wanted to say hey.
All the best and Happy Holidays!
Jimmy
Followed by this note:
The "smart is the new sexy" part in your picture is absolutely great! it is completely underrated!
good luck out there champ
Oh. My. Gosh. He called me champ. In that moment, I was in love. We’ll see what boys are on the chopping block this year. I’m excited. Aren’t you?
My one question: What does one have to do to get a seat on 2010's Hottest Bachelor's selection committee? I’d be all over that. Metaphorically, of course.
