Dating Triumphs and Tragedies

The Rainy Days of Dating
I’m not sure where you live, but where I do, in the Northeast, it has been nothing but rain this summer, which kind of puts a damper on fun summer dating.
While summer should be a great time to date, with barbeques, beach times, strolls on the boardwalk, and outdoor dining, instead, dating has resorted to being stuck indoors. The date can still be enjoyable, but can be difficult as it raises the questions, “what do we do on our date?” “Dinner and a movie? Again?” If the weather has you bogged down in the dating blues, here are some ideas to rev up your dating life so you don’t have to keep doing the same old thing over and over, just because a little rain gets in the way.
Try a Museum
(whether you like them or not). It could be an art museum or a car museum, it doesn’t matter. Any museum can provide for a fun date. Walking around the museum and looking at different things is a good way to spark conversation, whether interesting or funny. The positive here is that there is always something around to talk about. And, most museums have restaurants, so you can grab lunch or dinner while you are out. The big bonus is that museums are everywhere, and there are so many different types of museums. If art bores you, be a kid again and go to a dinosaur museum. If you know he likes cars, suggest a car museum. Try a space museum. Something out of the ordinary. People think museums are boring, but you can truly make them exciting and a worthwhile date.
Go to an Aquarium
There’s an aquarium near me that I used to love going to because it was dark inside and seemed mysterious. Thinking about that now, what a great place for a date! You might even find out he’s an animal lover, which might make you fall even more for him, and then want to steal a kiss by the Beluga Whales. Aww…now isn’t something you’ll always remember?
Visit a Casino
Okay, I’m not promoting gambling, but since again, there are some near me. I do know that on a rainy day, it can be a good place to go, and not just to lose money. Some have shops, restaurants and entertainment, so there are many possibilities for a date if you go to a casino. And hey, you could try your luck on both the slots and your guy. You might win at both.
Experience Live Music
So, summer may be the time of live music at open pavilions with outdoor seating, but when the rain hits, there goes that idea. Still, there is tons of great live music at coffee shops and clubs, all of which also serve dinner. Look up some local clubs or cafes and see who is playing. Get there early and grab dinner and then listen to your favorite singer-songwriter sing love songs. Maybe it’ll put some things on his mind. Wink wink ;)
Skip the Movies, Go to a Play
You can go to the movies any day, but during the summer, there are a lot of theatre productions going on. Especially comedies. See what interests you both and try it out. If there isn’t a restaurant in the theatre, there is likely to be one nearby, just bring an umbrella. Plus, it’s cozy in the theatres, so you’ll get some nice together time.
Being rained out in the summer is bad enough, but worse when you have a date planned. It doesn’t mean that you have to cancel though or be bummed about your date; you just have to improvise a little. Step away from the norm. Don’t revert back to the dinner and a movie just because it seems like the simplest idea. Step out of the box a little. Check out your newspaper or go online. There’s probably more to do in your area than you know about. If he doesn’t know what to do, then you suggest something. He’ll probably be psyched that you came up with something to do, and no matter what it is, the fact that it is something different will likely ensure a good time. So rev up your engine and head on over to that car museum. You’ll be happy you did.
