Motivational Tapes (and CDs) to Get Your Mojo Working
Consider all the daily subliminal messages we receive through the media and the “internal programming” of our own upbringing.
We hear messages involving poor lifestyle habits, deficiencies, dumb decisions, and economic doom and gloom.
Commercials and commentary tell us we need to weigh less, do more, keep up with the Joneses, eat better, and be more accomplished---just to name a few.
Sometimes these messages can do more harm than good, making us feel helpless and hopeless. Which is why it’s so important to have positive messages and mantras that keep us motivated and moving forward!
That’s where motivational tapes come in.
A few years ago, I started tuning into them both as a way to garner much needed info and inspiration, in spite of a busy schedule that would not allow me to sit down and read as much as I would really like to.
I found that I could “passively” listen to tapes while taking bubble baths, while commuting to work, while doing chores, etc.
You get the picture…
And the cool thing about this is that since technology has changed the way we receive our media, music, etc. these tapes are dirt cheap, (in that not a lot of folks still have cassette players as listening options).
Anyhow… I typically find these “gems” at thrift stores, flea markets, and even close out sales. As a result, I’ve assembled quite a collection, if I do say so myself.
So here are my recommendations. In the words of Anita Baker, “I’m giving you the best that I got.”
WISDOM OF THE MASTERS---By Dr. Wayne Dyer
I’ve always been a fan of Wayne Dyer. Way back when I used to view his programs and words of wisdom on WTTW, Channel 11. I like his style, and I trust his guidance. In this two-tape set, accompanied by the beautiful music of Richard Del Maestro, he reflects and adds meaning and measure to the collective wisdom of some of the greatest “teachers” and go-to gurus of our times. Assembling insight and wisdom of Lao Tzu, Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, Shakespeare and more. Tape 2 features some of the poetry of a 13 Century Sufi Muslim poet, Rumi. You’ll come away from this encouraged and enlightened. Get your hands on this one soon! (also available on CD)
REAL MAGIC---Also by Wayne Dyer
This audioo
shares the infinite possibilities of human potential when believe in ourselves, and when we look beyond boundaries and look to the guidance of the creator. (cassette version)
TAPES BY DEEPAK CHOPRA
Pick one. Anyone, or several. You’ll find a wealth of wisdom and ways to improve your health and overall quality of life.
Here are a few other ways to keep your life moving positively forward:
> Stop being paralyzed by fear. Remember that “A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”
> Do less blaming and more “claiming”. Personal accountability makes all the difference in doing things better and owning our input in our lives circumstances. In the words of Dr. Phil, “You can’t change what you don’t acknowledge.”
> Don’t let your ego stand in the way of your excellence. Do a reality check!
> What strengths need to be acquired? What bad habits need to be eliminated?
> Remember that you can’t change anybody but yourself. Start there.
> Set realistic goals with REAL deadlines!
> Stop competing and comparing; instead strive for your personal best.
> Strive for balance. Take time to give quality attention to all the important areas of your life. And don’t disregard the importance of a little T.L.C. It will help you to go the distance!
And most of all, live each day to the fullest!
