The Best
Relationship Books
Whether you’re looking to increase your Guy Q, date your mate, or get disaster recovery for the mess you may have made of your relationship, you’ll find needed answers here!
The following titles are for daters from 18-80 and married folks as well. These books are engaging enough to read from cover to cover, inclusive enough to go right to the chapter you need for immediate address of your particular issue.
Get them online, get them at your local library, by whatever means necessary, just get em’! Some of these selections have been mentioned in previous reviews, but to quote a popular expression, “good advice is worth repeating.”
The Best Books on Love
RELATIONSHIP RESCUE --- DR. PHIL MCGRAW
This book is by the go to guru of relationships, and popular talk-show host. The approach? A seven-step strategy for partners to reconnect. It intelligently addresses ten of the most common relationship myths, ways to have a harmonious union, and how to “be the hero” of your relationship. Though I don’t agree with all his advice, most of it is useful and easy to integrate.
INSIDE MY HEART --- ROBIN MCGRAW
Admittedly, it comes as a total surprise to me that I would be recommending this book! Initially, I thought that a Barbie doll dame, whose greatest claim to fame was holding Dr. Phil’s hand as he exits his daily show, couldn’t have much of substance to share with other women.
After all, who wouldn’t shine under the bright light of Dr. Phil? Am I right? But this book proved me wrong.
Since it was available at my local library, and it was free, I figured I’d see what all the hoopla was about. And I stand corrected.
Robin McGraw is a woman with her own views and her own vision for her life. And contrary to what I originally believed, she does have a few hard times under her belt, from which she can speak intelligently and insightfully and reach out to others. Experiences (like having an alcoholic dad and growing up poor) that have made her wiser and more resolute in living a purpose filled life. I found her to be funny and frank, and you will too.
I give it two thumbs up!
THE COMPLETE IDIOT’S GUIDE TO A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP — DR.JUDY KURIANSKY
This is a fabulous, fun-filled read that covers a myriad of issues faced by today’s couples. It contains a bunch of introspective quizzes, surveys, and useful suggestions to help you click with the right partner.
MAKING LOVE BETTER THAN EVER --- BARBARA KEESLING, PH.D.
This love doctor boasts more than 17 years’ experience as an intimacy therapist, and has authored several books on this topic. Between the sheets of this book you’ll find these enchanting chapters: factors in attraction, active and passive roles, loving words and more.
HOW TO STOP THE OTHER WOMAN FROM STEALING YOUR HUSBAND --- LOUIS S. GREENUP, JR.
Whether you’re single and seeking to understand the male psyche, or married and need motivation to make things work, you’ll find answers here.
No topic is taboo.
Louis S. Greenup, Jr., who dubs himself as the “marriage doctor”, authors this 300-plus-page turner, published by Kingdom Word Press. It tackles an array of relationship issues from “identifying the enemy”; to what to do if his church is his mistress, to how to know if your man is vulnerable to an affair, and even addresses sexual techniques to help you seal the deal.
What I liked about the book is the way that it teaches women to be empowered rather than victimized in their roles as partners. It integrates spiritual lessons with worldly wisdom and practical advice. And it’s thought provoking.
Additionally, Karen H. Greenup, wife and co-author, also provides useful pointers.
Don’t forget to put into practice the principles and techniques found in your readings. Consider it another tool to getting the good love you deserve!
