Online Dating Does Work

I met my husband online five years ago when edating was more of a taboo than it is today. Having been divorced for three years, I wasn't in a hurry to meet Mr. Right or Mr. Right Now. Curiosity and frustration with the quality/quantity of men I was meeting in bars, blind dates, etc., were the driving factors behind my decision to go online to date.

After three months of chatting online, dating and getting numerous emails from potential dates (and a few from the "usual freaks"), my self esteem was at an all time high. Because of all the attention, I realized I did not have to "settle" for someone who was less than what I really deserved (which was usually what I did) just to have someone to be with.

Shortly after that revelation, I met my husband who decided to look into edating because his best friend had met someone online. His best friend is still married to his online find. A year after we met, we became engaged and now have a two-year-old daughter.

When we became engaged, people would ask how we met. I would watch their eyebrows rise up into their hairlines as I proudly announced that we'd met ONLINE.

Online dating may still garner sarcastic remarks from some. But, I'm here to say that it does work. Success often depends on the attitude in which you approach it and what you expect to get out of it. My success was two-fold. Not only did I get a much needed boost to my self-esteem, I now have a beautiful little family.
