One of the biggest complaints from online daters is that online dating services don't remove "dead profiles". A dead profile is one that a person never deleted, even though they are no longer using the service. Some services count dead profiles in their publisized statistics (i.e. "we have 20 million users"). Dead profiles are a waste o9f time for online daters who may be sending messages to a profile in which the person will never receive it (and thus never respond). Online Dating Magazine estimates that people receive one response for every 20 communications they send showing an interest. This high ratio is, in part, due to "dead profiles".
