Whenever going on a first date, safety should be at the forefront of your mind. You may think you know the person because you've been communicating with them via the computer, but that's not always the case. Research shows that more than 50% of online daters lie in their profiles and nearly 30% are married. You don't truly know someone until you get to know them in person. Therefore don't give out your home address or have a date pick you up at home. Always provide your own transportation on a first date, meeting in a public place. Make sure someone knows who you are with and where you are at. Trust your gut instinct. Have fun, but always be alert.
