Summer
Lovin'
Ah
summer. Is it really that time of year again already?
For some, it is their favorite season when the sun
is shining and being outdoors is all they could wish
for. For others, it’s the hot nights they crave.
And for the rest, they rush indoors to the cool of
the A.C. Whatever the case, summer has a lot to offer
on the dating scene. While many are too involved
in their summer activities and decide if they find
a summer fling, great, you may instead wind up catching
the best wave of summer with an unexpected date.
The
first thing that pops into mind with summer is the
beach, and yes, many guys and gals go there expecting
to see the opposite sex very, very dressed down.
It’s a fun, and easy place to flirt. And since
it’s a daytime activity, it can also lead to
a nighttime activity. If you and your friends find
yourselves flirting with another group and all is
going well, be bold and ask them to the trendy Beach
Bar (which is sure to be nearby) for a drink or to
hang out. See who meshes with who, and next thing
you know, you might have an official beach date lined
up.
But
the beach is not the only
outside activity that the summer
holds. There are many outdoor
festivals that offer a melting
pot of datable people. From
concerts, arts and film, there
are plenty of places to go
that meet your liking, where
you might find someone with
the same tastes you have. When
I lived in California, they
showed old movies on a big
screen outside at night. A
cool atmosphere to go to with
your friends and meet other
cool people. Or, if you have
just met someone, a great place
for a date. There are also
many outdoor concerts during
the summer where people are
apt to meet, whether tailgating
in the parking lot, or next
to your seat at the show. It
may not be the greatest place
for a first date though, since
the music is loud and you won’t
hear a thing he is saying…but
maybe later down the line.
And if you are the artsy type,
summer is certainly the time
for arts & crafts festivals.
If you’re looking
to meet someone, stroll along
down the rows and if you
see someone you admire, admiring
a painting, go admire it
as well. Then you can strike
up a conversation about it…and
admire him all the way down
to the restaurant that he
just invited you to have
lunch at.
Are
you more of a stay inside the cool air
during the day, but go into
the hot night, kind of gal?
Summer nights are hot…and
fun, and where the unexpected
can happen. Many bars and
restaurants open up an outdoor
area, and make fun summery
drinks. Dressing for nights
out is more exciting too; you
can rid of your wintery clothes
and don a sassy summer dress.
It’s a flirty time
and most other people are
out to just relax and enjoy
the night, because after
all, summer is only a few
months, why let it slip away?
But
there are those occasional days when it does get
stormy, and for some people, that
is a very welcome day. Yes,
it’s the thunderstorm.
The sky gets black, the rain
pours down, and between loud
booms and bolts of lightening,
you’re scared to look
out from under the blanket.
Okay, maybe that’s
just me. Some people love
these days though, where
they can stay inside, and
don’t have to go anywhere.
So if you have just started
dating someone, you might
want to let him in on this.
Invite him over and plan
your own day together. It’s
sort of like a snow day…but
not. Just cozy up and watch
movies, order takeout, and
make margaritas. He’ll
pretend not to be scared
of the thunderstorm, while
you will be openly scared
and you can cuddle together.
So cute.
Summer
is also tourist season. Taking a trip? Maybe
by yourself or with friends?
Get to know the locals. If
this is a relaxing trip for
some “you” time,
be adventurous and have fun.
See who you can meet. Maybe
you’re just taking
a day trip to a town nearby
that has some attractions.
Perhaps a getaway from the
normal guys you see would
do you good, and someone
in a different town would
spice things up a bit, and
you’d
have somewhere new to visit
as well. Plus, you don’t
mind driving that short distance…if
it’s
for him.
Whatever
the case, summer has a lot to offer.
There’s tons to do,
even if the weather doesn’t
cooperate. You just have
to put yourself out there,
be seen, and hopefully, say
a few words. Don’t
let summer pass you by without
finding yourself some summer
lovin’.
