First Date Meeting. Meet Half Way?
Dear Dating Tips,
Hi. I am wondering if two people have decided
to meet in person at a Starbucks, who should do the driving
if you live about 30 minutes from each other? Should
you meet halfway? If there is no halfway Starbucks should
the guy drive to a location near the gal? ~ Coffee

Dear Coffee Date,
This is a good question and there really isn't a "correct"
answer. However, since it is your first meeting, it
is generally customary to either meet half way or for
the guy to come closer to your area. Ideally,
the
guy will offer to drive to your location. Be sure to
let each other know what each of you will be wearing
since it is your first meeting. Decide whether you'll
meet inside or outside of Starbucks.
If you decide to meet half way, go to www.starbucks.com and
from Our Stores, select Store Locator. This will allow
you
to
easily
search for Starbucks locations. You can then use Mapquest
(www.mapquest.com -
select Driving Directions) to determine the distance.
It would be easier, however, if the guy came to your
location. You are already familiar with the Starbucks
in your area and can choose one that has the right
environment
(some are small and too crowded, while others are more
spacious and comfortable). Selecting the right Starbucks
with
the right environment may enhance the experience.
My personal recommendation - the guy comes to your
location and you select the Starbucks. However, some
feel that half way is better as it may "lower expectations."
