When it’s time to meet someone for the first time, safety should be at the forefront of your mind. You may think you know the person because you’ve been communicating with them via the computer (and/or phone), but that’s not always the case. Research shows that more than 50% of online daters lie in their profiles and nearly 30% are married. You don’t truly know someone until you get to know them in person. Therefore be sure to follow these important first date rules:
1) Don’t have a person pick you up or drop you off at your home.
2) Meet the person at the date location, which should be a public place.
3) At no point before/during/after your first date should you give away your home address.
4) Make sure someone knows who you are with and where you are at.
5) Trust your gut instinct.
Have fun, but always be alert.
